If every burner has gone lazy and yellow at the tip over the same few months, the question is fuel and air, not the burner. If one ring alone misbehaves while the others sit clean and blue, it is that ring and nothing wider.
Establishing what the supply is
Gas burners are sized for the gas they are fed. Orifice, air setting and expected pressure all belong to one fuel, and a machine running on a supply it was not set up for says so in the flame: yellow tips, soot under a pan, a low setting that will not stay low. That is why a canyon booking starts with what the house runs on, a street main or a tank.
It is not a verdict on the appliance. Set up correctly for either fuel, a range runs perfectly well; the complaint comes from a mismatch, or from drift after a supply was altered. None of it is testable from the kitchen. It is measured on the visit, and nobody should be opening a gas connection to find out.
Dust, and what it does to a burner
Canyon houses draw in more grit than anything on a paved grid, and it travels wherever the air does: into burner ports, into the gap beneath a cap, onto an electrode tip. A partly blocked port gives a flame that stands tall in one place and is missing in another, and it is the commonest reason a burner looks like it is dying when it is only dirty.
The obvious half you can handle. Let the cooktop go stone cold, lift the cap and burner head off if they come freely, and clear what is visible. If the ring is still patchy, the blockage sits further in and the burner comes off properly — bench work, not kitchen work.
