Gas and induction are two different repairs
A Wolf gas top runs dual-stacked sealed burners: an electrode that sparks, a valve behind the knob, an orifice sizing the gas, a cap and head you lift off by hand. Almost everything that fails there is metal, small and reachable from above.
An induction top has none of it. Heat is made in the cookware itself, so there is nothing under the glass to clean or unblock. What can fail is electronic, reached from beneath.
The three bands a cooktop can reach
On a gas top the ignition band takes electrodes, leads and the module firing them; the valve band takes valves and orifices, including the vanished low end on a burner that will not settle; the control band takes switch banks and any electronic panel.
Only the last of the three reaches an induction top. There is no cheaper band to fall into, which sounds worse than it is: those failures are rarer, and a dead zone is often the pan.
What a zone that drops out is telling you
Start with the cookware. Induction only works with a pan a magnet will hold, and a warped base or an undersized pan behaves much like a failed zone. Move one pan across the zones, then try your other pans on the dead one.
If the fault stays with the zone through every pan you own, the electronics are the suspect. If it follows the pan, you have saved a call-out and the price of a control board.

How do I tell which kind of cooktop I own from the model number?
The prefix does it. Most Wolf gas cooktops carry a model number opening CG, while the induction ones open CI. Read it off the rating label rather than judging by the surface, and quote those letters when you ring: they decide which bands can apply at all.
Why can only one band reach an induction top?
Because induction has no ignition and no gas valve to fail. Heat is produced in the pan itself, so the hardware beneath is electronic: control boards and the touch surface driving them. That sits in the control band, and anything outside it is quoted after the diagnosis.
Is a burner that will not simmer the same repair as one that will not light?
